Happy Birthday!

Dearest Amyra,

One year ago, on this day you were born. I seriously had no idea till 8th of April’ 15. I was sleeping when my phone beeped that morning. There was a SMS. I unlocked my phone sleepily and read the message. It was one of the happiest news in months. I went through many emotions as I sat on my bed staring at the phone screen. The message read, “We were blessed with a baby girl on 3rd of April”. I was surprised, overwhelmed, and overjoyed. I was happier than I was when I got to know about your mom and dad’s roka. While typing a reply, I was smiling ear to ear. I don’t remember to how many of my friends I gave the news later.

I have not met you, yet. But, I already love you with all my heart. Wish you a very happy birthday, princess. I know you will be having the most amazing birthday today. Your mom was counting weeks and months for this day. On 3rd of every month, she would change her WhatsApp status to- 1st month, 2nd month and so on. I find that incredibly adorable. Such a doting mom she is!

I ask her for your picture sometimes and she obliges. I find every new one cuter than the previous. Pictures of you wrapped up in a blanket, you sleeping and eating your hand, you lying on the bed and smiling for the camera. So adorable you look in each of them. When you grow up and come visit me, I will show them to you.

I can’t wait to meet you, hug you, and play with you. I can’t wait to kiss you and to get many of your sloppy kisses. I can’t wait to hear the stories your mom and dad would proudly tell.

When in town, I will be your official babysitter. I will send off your mum and dad on a date. And we will have a lot of fun. We can watch cartoons or eat cookies or play doll dress up or color up the entire bed. I will let you wear your mom’s shoes and walk around the place. I will let you take out all your toys and spread them in the entire house. I will let you paint my face blue, if you would want to. You name it and we will do it.

You, be a smile on your parent’s face. Remind your mom that not everything happen as planned because it happens a bit better always. And, puff up your cheeks when someone tries to pull them, it will solve the problem without your dad having to give the cold look to people! And hope you grow up to support Bangalore Royal Challengers. Ha-ha!

On this day, I wish you all the happiness, love, good health, and laughter. I wish you all the good things and blessings that life has to offer. May you spread smiles and joys among the people around you. May you get many more reasons to celebrate life. Get more sleep baby. Eat well. Play well and sleep some more. Wish you many many more happy returns of this day.
I couldn’t think of anything to give you as gift. You already have so many toys and dresses. I wanted to give you something special, because you’re special for me. So, I decided to give you the first post of my blog. To write a blog is something that everyone asks me to do, and I always procastinate. But today, on your birthday I promise myself that I will write. Maybe I write bad, maybe I will write occasionally but I will write. On your first birthday, I am giving to you a part of me. Hope it stays with you always.

Happy Birthday! I love you. Hope to see you soon. Hope I become your favourite aunt, someday
